“I have known Kai Elmauer in the context of the work the WWF European Alpine Programme (EALP) is conducting on large carnivore conservation in the European Alps. In early 2010 Mr. Elmauer was assigned the task of drafting a pan-alpine conservation strategy for brown bears. Mr Elmauer was the obvious choice given his extensive experience in strategy development for complex and large-scale challenges in nature conservancy. During this period I have been consistently impressed by both Mr Elmauer’s attitude towards his assignment and the quality of his work. His interpersonal and communication skills have allowed him to develop productive working relationships with our partner organizations. In particular Mr Elmauer’s outstanding self-organizing skills and well-structured time management capabilities have proved to be instrumental in reaching the demanding goals set to him by the EALP.What was most important to me was Mr Elmauer’s reliability, given the strategic nature of the assignment. His hands-on attitude, his experience, and his punctuality were big assets that I appreciated greatly. His analytical skills combined with his familiarity of conservation plans for large carnivores and his first-hand knowledge of human dimensions in conservation efforts for brown bears in the Alps have been instrumental for the development of the Pan Alpine Conservation Strategy.I recommend Mr Elmauer without reservation.”
